Bill Monroe & His Bluegrass Boys - Gotta Travel On
Every A side and the very best of the B sides from every Bill Monroe single of the 1950s, is featured on this essential set. A great many went on to become both Monroe classics, and staples of the repertoire of any new bluegrass group trying to prove its mettle. From his first sessions in the 1930s with his brothers Birch and Charlie onwards, Mr. Monroe never deviated from his chosen musical path and it is largely through his musical vision that bluegrass became country music's most popular and enduring sub-genre. Many of Bluegrass' most eminent musicians passed through Mr. Monroe's Bluegrass Boys in that 60s years, among them Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs, Carter and Ralph Stanley. Jimmy Martin and Mac Wiseman (to name just a few). The careers of all those who worked with him benefited greatly from what they learned as a Bluegrass Boy. Bill Monroe may not have invented bluegrass music, but it would never have evolved as it did without him at the centre of things. This collection is a testament to his determination, and as comprehensive a collection of classic 1950s Bill Monroe as anyone could wish to own. CD 1: Blue Moon Of Kentucky / New Mule Skinner Blues / The Old Fiddler / I’m Blue, I’m Lonesome / Bluegrass Ramble / Uncle Pen / On The Old Kentucky Shore / Lord Protect My Soul / Kentucky Waltz / Swing Low Sweet Chariot / Rotation Blues / I’ll Meet You In Church Sunday Morning / Highway Of Sorrow / The Brakeman’s Blues / Christmas Time’s A Coming / Rawhide / I’m On My Way Back To The Old Home / When The Cactus Is In Bloom / Pike County Breakdown / Footprints In The Snow / You’re Drifting Away / Cabin Of Love / Memories Of Mother And Dad / I Hope You Have Learned / A Letter From My Darling / Walking In Jerusalem / Y’all Come / Get Up John / Happy On My Way CD 2: I’m Working On A Building / Cheyenne / Wait A Little Longer, Please Jesus / Put My Little Shoes Away / On And On / You’ll Find Her Name Written There / A Fallen Star / Molly And Tenbrooks / Panhandle Country / Gotta Travel On / My Little Georgia Rose / Alabama Waltz / Poison Love / The Prisoner’s Song / Lonesome Truck Driver’s Blues / Travellin’ Blues / In The Pines / The Little Girl And The Dreadful Snake / Close By / A Voice From On High / Roanoke / New John Henry Blues / Wheel Hoss / Four Walls / Sitting On Top Of The World / Scotland / No One But My Darlin’

Marty Wilde - Walk on the Wilde Side - The Singles Collection 1957-1962
After charting for the first time with his third single (and first Top 3 hit) "Endless Sleep", Marty Wilde enjoyed 13 UK hits between 1958 and 1962, most of which made at least the Top 20 and more frequently than not, the Top 10. All thirteen are featured here, alongside all of his non-charting A sides from the period as well as many of the B sides. He wasn't the first UK artist to rock 'n' roll, but there's no doubt that Marty Wilde was our first real local Rock 'n' Roller. His weekly appearances of our TV screens on 'Six Five Special', 'Oh Boy!' and 'Boy Meets Girls' made Marty a familiar face on British TV screens from the mid-50s to the early 60s, and the records he made during that time were seldom far from the top of our charts. Marty had the looks, but he also had the talent to back it up. He was one of the only UK acts to breach the US Hot 100, and tour America at a time when very few of our artists got a look in 'across the pond'. Later in his career, Marty's song writing skills provided big UK hits for the likes of Status Quo, Lulu and his daughter Kim Wilde . At nearly 80 years of age, Marty is still touring regularly and still entertaining capacity crowds with his great hits from almost 60 years ago - including just about all of those featured here. Take a "Walk On The Wilde Side" with this great Jasmine collection and you will understand why he was and remains so popular. Tracks: Honeycomb - Marty Wilde And His Wildcats / Love Bug Crawl - Marty Wilde And His Wildcats / Oh-Oh, I’m Falling In Love Again - Marty Wilde And His Wildcats / Endless Sleep - Marty Wilde And His Wildcats / Misery’s Child / The Fire Of Love / Donna / A Teenager In Love / Sea Of Love / Bad Boy / Johnny Rocco / The Fight / Angry / Little Girl / Rubber Ball / When Does It Get To Be Love / Hide And Seek / Tomorrow’s Clown / Come A Runnin’ / Jezebel / Ever Since You Said Goodbye / Wild Cat - Marty Wilde And His Wildcats / Sing Boy Sing - Marty Wilde And His Wildcats / My Lucky Love / No One Knows / Love-A, Love-A, Love-A / Danny / Teenage Tears / It’s Been Nice / Your Seventeenth Spring / The Hellions / Send Me The Pillow That You Dream On

Various Artists - Swamp Pop - Sea of Love: The Ultimate Collection 1955-1962
The one thing most of these records have in common, and one which is hard to deny, is their debt to the sound of Fats Domino and his producer and co-writer Dave Bartholomew. "Swamp pop" as it went on to be affectionately known, was popular in Louisiana, Texas and the neighbouring states and for the brief period encompassed by this compilation became a pop phenomenon breaking out into the American pop and R&B charts.
