Having established an incisive combination between energetic noise and somewhat surprisingly poetic content, the two tracks display exactly why you should make every effort to catch the mysteriously named John live. You’d certainly be forgiven for wondering how only two bodies could create the frantically paced brand of noisy rock that they’ve become recognised for, a brand that has lead them onto stages with bands such as Idles, USA Nails and Pulled Apart By Horses. ‘Local Blood Sport’ and ‘Spies’ show off different angles of the band, with both songs strung together by lyrics that abstract the most mundane situations of everyday life and set them against a backdrop of solid crunching instrumentation.
