The Beatles performed two Montréal Forum shows on 8 September 1964, with a press conference held between the matinee and evening sets for CBC on the venue stage. Local press had circulated a threat against Ringo Starr, so rather than remain in Montréal, the group immediately flew out after the second performance, landing in Key West in the early hours, where fans were already waiting. After a day’s rest in Miami, they continued on to Jacksonville for a show at the Gator Bowl the following night. These recordings come direct from AM broadcast sources. They are sonically rough – vocal distortion is significant – but remain a valuable document of the era. The CBC transmission was faded during ‘A Hard Day’s Night’, so ‘I Want To Hold Your Hand’ and ‘Long Tall Sally’ were never aired.
