17.04.26 - JUMBO NEWSLETTER 13.04.26

Hi there!

Big news this week. We're delighted to announce that we are celebrating V&A East Museum's inaugural exhibition The Music is Black: A British Story (opens Saturday 18 April!) with a specially curated pop-up Jumbo Record selection in the main shop and exhibition shop, inspired by some of our favourite records and artists.

Jumbo's proud roots in Black British music go back to 1971, when Hunter Smith took a young mans bold step to open a tiny record shop tucked away at the top of a shopping centre, selling music lovers the reggae and soul records so popular in his Jumbo Mobile Discotheque. Looking back at the chance Hunter took in 1971 on the music scene and the city he loved, and Jumbo Records' 55-year journey through many musical genres and Leeds' evolution as a northern city, we couldn't be more proud to be part of a major exhibition celebrating Black British music at the V&A.

If you're in London, make sure to check out the exhibition, and our pop-up shop while you're there!

This Saturday is also Record Store Day!! Read on for info about the day - we can't wait to welcome everyone!

Ahead of Saturday, we've got another healthy new release day on Friday, with albums coming from E L U C I D & Sebb Bash, Snocaps, Winston Hightower and more!
The full list of Friday's releases is on our website.

Happy listening!
