DJ Lubi Presents... The Haggis Horns + Sinead Campbell + DJs

Date: Friday, 5th June 2026

Venue: Kirkgate Community Centre / Leeds / UK

Time: 19:30

Yorkshire jazz/soul/global beats promoter DJ Lubi brings his second show into Kirkgate Community Centre, Shipley on Friday 5th June. It's a big summer soul/funk party featuring headliners that producer Mark Ronson described as "the best horn section in the world".....talking about UK funk legends The Haggis Horns. The Haggis Horns have been a driving force in the UK funk scene for over two and a half decades, first making waves as the horn section on the legendary "Keb Darge Presents The New Mastersounds" deep funk release in 2001. In 2004, they stepped into the spotlight as a full band, crafting their own signature northern funk sound – a powerhouse fusion of breakbeats, Afrobeat, soul, gritty funk and hip-hop. They’ve spent years igniting dance floors and festival crowds worldwide, earning a reputation as one of the UK’s most formidable live acts. Along the way, they’ve released five funk-fueled albums – "Hot Damn!" and "Keep On Movin" for London independent soul/hip-hop/jazz label First Word Records, and three records on their own label Haggis Records, which they launched in 2015 - "What Comes To Mind", "One Of These Days", and their last album release "Stand Up For Love" (2021).The members of The Haggis Horns have also played and recorded with some of the biggest names in popular music, including Jamiroquai, John Legend & The Roots, Amy Winehouse, Corinne Bailey Rae, Take That, Mark Ronson, Martha Reeves, Roots Manuva, Lou Donaldson, Elbow, Nightmares On Wax, Dennis Coffey, Adele, Finley Quaye, Robbie Williams, Morcheeba, Duran Duran, Craig Charles Presents The Fantasy Funk Band, Snowboy, The Cinematic Orchestra, Lisa Stansfield, Kano, Estelle, Lily Allen, KT Tunstall and Bahiana, just to name just a few! Their sound is feel-good funk, deep soul and boogie that pays homage to the band’s musical heroes of the 1970s – The JBs, Maceo Parker, Kool & The Gang (early days), Donald Byrd, The Blackbyrds, The Mizell Brothers, Earth Wind & Fire and of course, the Average White Band. Playing a mix of instrumental funk alongside vocal tracks (featuring Mancunian soul brother number one Martin O'Connor on lead vocals), they deliver dancer friendly sets every time that guarantee to pack the floor. Support comes from Bradford soul sister number one Sinead Campbell. The vocalist has been in the spotlight in 2025 through her performances across the Bradford 2025 City Of Culture year, plus the release of her debut EP "Sankofa", which dropped in summer 2025. Sinead Campbell is a Jamaican-Irish soul singer, songwriter, and creative producer based in the North of England. Her music blends modern R&B with nostalgic soul, funk grooves and powerful, heart-on-sleeve vocals. At the heart of her work is a deep honesty – songs that are as much about healing and identity as they are about groove and soul. Drawing on her dual heritage and lived experience, Sinead writes music that carries cultural pride, resilience, and self-discovery. Her songs move between soft strength and unapologetic empowerment, offering listeners a space to breathe, reflect, and reconnect with their own truth. Sinead has already been compared to Mercury winner Olivia Dean and Thee Sacred Souls by Clash Magazine, praised as “a beautiful voice from the North” on Future Soul With Victoria Jane (BBC Radio 1), and championed by BBC Introducing, Fresh on the Net, and Amazing Radio. Her music has reached international airwaves from Lisbon to Dublin, while live she has supported Soul II Soul, Basement Jaxx, Phillip Lassiter, Pongo, and Arrested Development. With a great band of Leeds A-list funk/soul/jazz musicians backing her, we guarantee she'll warm up the room nicely for the headliners. On the decks spinning 100% vinyl funk/soul/boogie will be DJ lubi, plus special guest DJ Matt Bradshaw from Jumbo Records Leeds. As always, Shipley's finest craft ale bar Triangle will be hosting the bar.
